What €40 pays for
A video consultation with a doctor who speaks English and is licensed to treat you where you are, and — where it is clinically appropriate and local rules permit — a prescription. You also receive a receipt.
It does not pay for the medicine itself, which you buy at a pharmacy, or for any in-person care you may go on to need. A fixed price means the figure does not move; it is not a promise that it covers everything that might follow.
How you are charged
You confirm
A hold of €40 is placed on your card. Nothing is charged yet.
You speak to the doctor
By video, in your browser, with a doctor licensed to treat you where you are.
Then you are charged
The €40 is taken after the consultation. If the doctor does not attend, the hold is released instead.
And travel insurance?
You do not need insurance to book, and you can submit the receipt to your insurer afterwards — whether it is reimbursed depends on your policy. What paying for a consultation yourself does and does not replace is set out in full on seeing a doctor online without insurance.
Questions about the price
How much does an online doctor cost abroad with Pomodoc?
€40 for a video consultation with a doctor. Fixed price. No surprises. The same €40 applies in every country Pomodoc covers.
Is the price different in different countries?
No. A consultation costs €40 wherever you are, in all 139 countries Pomodoc covers.
When am I charged?
After the consultation. A hold of €40 is placed on your card when you confirm, and the charge is taken once the consultation has happened.
How do I pay?
By card. Card is the only payment method at the moment.
What if the doctor does not show up?
The hold on your card is released and you are not charged.
Is a prescription included?
Where it is clinically appropriate and local rules permit, your doctor may issue a prescription as part of the consultation. The medicine itself is bought at a pharmacy and paid for there.
Is medication included in the price?
No. If your doctor prescribes something, you pay for the medicine at the pharmacy. Any in-person care you go on to need is also separate.
Can I claim it back on my travel insurance?
You receive a receipt you can submit to your insurer. Whether it is reimbursed depends on your policy, so check its terms.
What if I need another consultation?
Only if you need one and choose to book it. Another consultation costs another €40.
What if the doctor says I need to be seen in person?
The consultation is still charged. The doctor's assessment and advice is what the €40 pays for, including when that advice is to be seen in person.
